11/20/2018 0 Comments final reflection postOriginally, I took this class just to fill my tech credit. Going into this class, it was pretty tough for me because I didn't have that many friends, and I thought I'd be lonely on days where we were allowed to go out and take pictures. When I'm taking notes, everything makes sense, but as soon as Mr. O'Donnell said, "Go take pictures." I was utterly lost. I kept fumbling with my manual settings, and struggling with the concept of exposure and aperture. Like, come on! It's still hard. But as time went on, I developed friendships with a few people in this class, and I started to realize, I made taking pictures to be way more complicated than it actually is. I started to love taking a camera home every weekend, and deciding on my subject, working on my manual mode and taking time (and patience) to capture what I was aiming for. I started off pretty rough, but I started to get the hang of it around week 3-4, which is when my pictures started to progress. When we started to do some photoshop assignments, I was just terrible with it. I didn't know where the buttons were, how to make a layer mask by myself, blah blah blah...and then things started to look up when I could stop tasking Natalie for help, (haha, sorry Natalie!) I have a digital camera at home, and was dumbfounded on how exactly to use it. But after taking this class, I'm going to be way more intone and knowledgeable on how to use the camera I've had for years but didn't have the will or desire to learn about. My experience with class have been positive, and at the end of the day, I'm so thankful that I took and was able to learn the in's and out's of how cameras work, learning about composition and getting myself familiarized with photoshop, which may come in handy one day. (Let's just not speak about how awful my first few photoshop assignments were...) Now that we're at the end of this trimester, it's going to hard to part with my camera. Here's an example of my pictures as they slowly went along, from week 1-7.

Shutter Speed: 1/100 Aperture: F4.0 All I did to edit these was brighten them a bit and put the vibrance on. The 3rd photo in the 1st row in the unedited "best" photo. I loved the pictures I took this week! I waited until Sunday to take these photos because I knew my family was making a big dinner. I actually worked with my manual settings and I think I finally got the hang of it. The food was super good too, by the way. It was fun taking these pictures because I felt like I didn't need to try so hard to take these! I can't believe that this is our second to last photo assignment. For the next one, I'm gonna try my hardest just because I want to make it the best picture possible. I think I'm going to start looking now and decide what I want to do early on so I can prepare for it! 11/9/2018 0 Comments Portrait assignmentThis was our portrait assignment! We had to take pictures in the studio, and then pictures out on our own. In the studio, we had a key light, fill light and background light, a stool and a curtain, to make these photos happen. When we were out on our own, we chose to use natural lighting and a bounce card to get the shadows off of Mia's face. We used a wide open aperture (F8.0), and a fast shutter speed (1/60) to get these cool pictures! During this assignment, I learned how to use lighting to my advantage and learned how to correctly take portrait pictures.

Shutter speed: 1/20 Aperture: F3.5 For my 6th photo assignment, I chose to do nature. These pictures were taken in my backyard at my moms house. I really wanted to capture the colors of Fall because it's my favorite season! Everything looks so pretty and colorful. I tried taking a picture successfully of the red leaves in the bushes and I think I was able to do that pretty well! I should probably work on getting different angles more often, as well as continue to practice in manual mode! (I did it for the photo sets!) For some reason, it wouldn't let me upload any of my edited one, so all of these are unedited. 11/2/2018 0 Comments photoshop tutorialsIn this assignment, we had to do several different types of photoshop. We were assigned to do "dash of color," and "polaroid." Then we were instructed to go off and find other tutorials that we should complete! I did one with the editing of a girl and her hair and one of a cat with sunglasses.
